Information Technology Infrastructure Library

The ITIL concept is centered around IT services as opposed to IT systems. ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library) is essentially a series of documents that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management. ITIL is, as the OGC states, a set of best practices.

Proper software and hardware control ensures the availability of licensed, tested, and version-certified software and hardware, which will function as intended when introduced into the existing infrastructure. PRINCE2 defines 45 separate sub-processes and organizes these into eight processes. Information Technology Infrastructure Library The wider adoption and awareness has led to a number of standards, including ISO/IEC 20000 which is an international standard covering the IT Service Management elements of ITIL.

Security refers to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of that data. The plan defines the actions necessary to prevent, detect, and mitigate the effects of potential disasters.
