Implementing ITIL In The Real World

IT departments primarily have been self-contained entities that were focused strictly on running operating systems, mainframes, and min-computers, fixing desktop computers and maintaining other IT equipment, or developing in-house software. An ITIL Toolkit usually includes materials which are intended to assist in both understanding and implementation, and are designed for both existing ITIL users and beginners. The ITIL-process Security Management describes the structured fitting of information security in the management organization.

Projects in Controlled Environments (PRINCE) is a project management methodology. In the PRINCE2 method, each process is specified with its key inputs and outputs and with specific goals and activities to be carried out, which gives an automatic control of any deviations from the plan. Implementing ITIL In The Real World Organizations or a management system may not be certified as "ITIL-compliant".

IT Service Management (ITSM) is a discipline for managing information technology (IT) systems, philosophically centered on the customer's perspective of IT's contribution to the business. A current, up to date Operational Documentation Library ("ODL") is required.

Like any quality business process, IT service continuity management (ITSCM) has expenses and common problems.
